Eco-School Clubs finding their rutines

The students Eco-School club holds their weekly meeting at Akosombo International School

The 7. steps of the Eco-Schools require that students are represented in the Eco-School committee that oversees the annual process at the school. Our children has however stated that they want to be more involved, and according to the tradition of having student clubs at Ghanaian schools - we have approved that Eco-School clubs are established.

Our had working Eco-Schools coordinator in the Asuogyaman district Mrs Margaret Ayernor has sendt us a video and report from the first of what has become weekly meetings in The Eco-School club at Akosombo International School.

- We have begun a new term and by God's grace, children's Eco-School club and Eco-School committee have started on a good note, Mrs Ayernor reports. Children's Eco-School Club organized themselves and have started holding meetings on Wednesdays at 1.30 pm. At the first meeting they held, they elected their executives. Some of the positions were the President, which Adwoa Odoru-Opong won, then they elected the Vice president, Secretary, Assisted secretary, Organiser, Treasure etc. Their first meeting was video recorded so we can share it with all Eco-Schools whet it has been edited.

- The secretary writes minutes for the meeting. Some of the decisions they have taken at the following meetings has been to get a 'T' - Shirt for members so that they are visibal in the schhol yards and else were if any one has questions. They want to appeal to the School authorities to permit them to wear them once a week or on their meeting days. They also want to go on excursions and again use some of their meeting days to do recycling projects so that during speech and prize giving days, they will have things to exhibit on Eco-School.

Adwoa, the elected president of the Eco-School club says in a note that she has started making a blog for the club where they will post activities and information. - We are here to make our club known to everyone. We are the first Eco-school in west Africa. We thank the Byosen Skole in Trondheim, Norway who helped us come this far. We are here to make Ghana a healthy and neat country

Committee members has also met and draw the action plan for the term, Mrs Ayernor who follows up on 8 Eco-Schools confirmes
