About us Green Erath Organization

We are delighted to announce that Eco-Schools in 2014 was introduced to Ghana as Green Earth Organization was given permit to formally run the program on behalf of its owner the Foundation of Environmental Education (FEE).

Green Earth Organisation is one of the oldest and most popular environment protection groups in Ghana. It was initiated in 1983 by a group of secondary students, moved by an environmental crisis in the country whit lack of rain and increasingly hot weather.

Our first activity was to educate farmers and farming communities to change their routines to become compatible with the new situation. Since then Ghana has changed considerably, all though still mainly a population of peasant – a growing economy has lead to environmental challenges of a different character. Particularly the urban areas are growing and new forms of consumption patterns have led to waste, energy and sanitation issues that are quite different from 1983.

Although GEO has continued its rural environment and development training, we have expanded our activities to also include energy, waste management, chemical issues etc, and are now excited to use our knowledge in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service and the Environmental Policy Agency that has endorsed our introduction of Eco-Schools to Ghana.
