Green Flag Ceremony at Rev. Monningar Presbytarian School

Monningar Presby school in Akosombo signed up for Eco-Schools at the very first Green Flag ceremony in West Africa in July 2014. Two years later with hard work they had met the criterions for reciving the Green Flag award. The school has introduced a waste separation system for the school and established early an Eco-School Club that has worked on a number of activities. The paper waste is used for art work, and the food waste goes to composting that has become manour for their newly established School Garden. Plastic waste is beeing sold to a waste collector. We salute them on their excelent work!

Wesley Methodist School Earns Second Green Flag in Ghana

Wesley Methodist School in Akosombo becoms second to earn the Green-Flag in West Africa!

Since we formally began the Eco-School program in July 2014, Wesley Methodist school has been an active partidipator in network meetings and more importantly in implementing their own action plan. Eco-Schhol Ghana has with great enthusiasem followed their development. It was therfore with great pride we witnessed West-Africas second Eco-School hoising their Green Flag. 

The first Green Flag certification in West Africa

Finally the first Green Flag certification ceremony in West Africa took place. Ghana now enters a family of more than 60 countries around the world that has formally been enrolled in the Eco-Scool program, working systematically through combining education and real-life projects towards more sustainable communities. Akosombo International School has been a pilot school for the Green Flag certification system in Ghana since it was first introduced to its benefits through its long lasting exchange program with one of Norways pilot Eco-Schools, Byaasen.
